SCMSWeb, web-based grid monitoring tools, was my senior project in 2004. I still remember that brute-force CSSifying it was painful.

Anyway, when I left KU, no one had taken full time maintaining. Sugree has tweaked some changes but overall look & feel are the same.

But 2005 brought us Web 2.0 and Mash-up era, so SCMSWeb get this as well. Now it has Geographic Mapping via Google Maps API.

ในฐานะคนเขียนซอฟต์แวร์ ก็ย่อมอยากให้คนใช้ผลงานของตัวเองเยอะๆ เป็นเรื่องธรรมดา

แต่การที่โปรแกรมที่เราเขียน ได้ไปรันบนเครื่องของ SDSC บ้านเกิดของคลัสเตอร์และกริด มันก็น่าภูมิใจอยู่พอดูเชียวแหละ (ถ้าหาไม่เจอ ชื่อผมอยู่ใน Document - About นะครับ มีบั๊กใน Make ที่ไม่ยอมแปะเลขเวอร์ชันจาก Changelog ด้วยแหละ) ธงชาติในหน้า General - Configurations ก็นั่งจุดอยู่พักนึงเหมือนกัน

SCMSWeb on SDSC

งานที่เคยทำมาแล้วมีผู้ใช้เยอะที่สุด คงเป็นธีม Lopburi ที่ได้รางวัลมา ทุกวันนี้ลองค้น Lopburi Flat ในกูเกิลก็ยังเจอชื่อเราอยู่ มันก็ดีใจน่ะนะ แต่สเกลของงานมันก็เป็นอะไรเล็กๆ แค่ธีมๆ นึงของแอพพลิเคชัน (ที่เพิ่งมาดัง) เท่านั้นเอง

เคยสงสัยอยู่เหมือนกันว่าถ้าเราเป็นคนเขียนอะไรก็ตาม ที่คนดังๆ ระดับโลก หรืออย่างน้อยก็ดังระดับโลกในสายงานของเค้า มาใช้โปรแกรมของเรา มันจะรู้สึกยังไง

KU SCMSWeb development team has added support to job schedulers - SGE, PBS
and LSF, in SCMSWeb. After some initial testings on KU and SDSC's clusters
proved that the job monitoring works, we started to upgrade SCMSWeb at all
sites. Now we have 5 sites finished the upgrade and their queues and jobs
can be monitored at SCMSWeb Central on pragma-goc. They are NCHC, BII, NCSA,
KU, SDSC. The rest 7 sites are working on the upgrade and will join the
centralized job monitoring soon.
Somsak - our main contact with KU SCMSWeb development team, has been very
helpful in assisting all testbed sites with SCMSWeb upgrades.

CICESE team, lead by Raúl Hazas, took the initiative and volunteered to help
KU SCMSWeb team to port SCMSWeb to Solaris. CICESE and KU had immediately
started working on it.

KU SCMSWeb team is also working on a Ganglia interface to SCMSWeb. This will
enable SCMSWeb to include Ganglia clients in its meta view.
