Ars is one of the few sites that actually reviews, instead of just giving a brief overview of the new stuff

Ars is my favourite tech news site. I have been a big fan of Siracusa, Hannibal and the others for long time. Just ordered Inside the Machine last friday from Amazon UK.

ผมเป็นแฟนประจำของ Ars Technica และคงไม่ต้องบอกว่ามันเป็นหนึ่งในสองต้นแบบของ Blognone (อีกอันคือ Slashdot)

Slashdot อาจมีข่าวเยอะกว่า (ด้วยเหตุผลว่าเป็น user-generated content) แต่สิ่งที่เทียบ Ars ไม่ได้เลยคือสกู้ปซึ่งรู้ลึกรู้จริง

สุดยอดนักเขียนของ Ars มีสองคน คือ Jon "Hannibal" Stokes เขียนเรื่องฮาร์ดแวร์ และ John Siracusa เขียนเรื่องแอปเปิล ทุกวันนี้บทความเรื่อง Finder ของ Siracusa ยังถูกอ้างถึงอยู่เสมอ เมื่อมีคนวิจารณ์ความห่วยของ Finder และต้องการข้อมูลที่เป็นวิชาการ

ที่เขียนมาตั้งยาวนี่ไม่มีอะไรมาก Jon Stokes ออกหนังสือเกี่ยวกับการทำงานของซีพียูชื่อ Inside the Machine (Amazon) ซึ่งผมอยากได้มาก

หนังสือเล่มนี้ว่าด้วยวิชา Computer Architecture แบบที่หลายคนเคยเรียน แต่ที่ต่างออกไปคือตำราสมัยมหาวิทยาลัยนั้นยังวนๆ แต่เรื่อง Z80 ไม่ก็ 8086 แต่ Inside the Machine นั้นว่าด้วย Pentium M และ Core 2 Duo !!!

อ่านผลงานของ Hannibal ที่ผ่านๆ มาแล้วไม่มีผิดหวังแน่นอน ตอนนี้กำลังคิดอยู่ว่าจะซื้อวิธีไหนดี
